What is Show Aufguss?

Show Aufguss is a performance-based sauna ritual that combines traditional heat and scent with storytelling, music, lighting, and choreography. Performed by one or more saunamasters, it turns a classic sauna session into a staged experience where timing, atmosphere, and movement are carefully crafted to guide the audience through an emotional and sensory journey.

How this competition is judged

At AUFGUSS WM, competitors are evaluated by an international jury using a detailed and standardized scoring catalog. The judging system focuses on three core pillars: technical execution, show and storytelling, and overall impact.

Judges assess towel technique, heat distribution, safety, and professionalism, alongside dramaturgy, music choice, theme development, emotional engagement, and audience connection. Each performance must demonstrate not only precise sauna craftsmanship, but also a coherent artistic concept that unfolds clearly within the allotted time.

The result is a balanced evaluation where both mastery of classic aufguss fundamentals and the ability to create an immersive, high-level show experience determine the final score.

How to register

Are you interested in presenting your unique Aufguss show in front of an audience at AUFGUSS-WM ? Are you a sauna master and have experience in saunas and aufguess, or have you even taken part in a competition?

Please register for the national competition that applies to you. Note that participation depends on your place of work or your home country/nationality. Be sure to read the regulations as well .

If there is no national championship, you have the option to sign up directly for the playoffs.

Registration for the Playoffs

Registration fee for the single competition: €150,00 plus VAT
Registration fee for the team competition: €200,00 plus VAT

If your employer pays for the participation fee, please also send us this address and possibly the VAT ID number.
